What's up everybody?!
It is a quiet night here in Washington State and I feel so grateful that I have found this place where I can go in 5 miles in any direction and be in a forest, hiking around.
You may be wondering why I have suddenly appeared beyond the social media pages, which I have honestly been on less and less these days, as Instagram, Facebook, and even Google now are starting to create AI with our faces, our songs and our art. And while I'm excited about the possibilities of AI and its creative and technological potential, I didn't... well, I guess I did consent to giving my identity and my likeness and voice, my music over to these large companies to create, new forms of expression.
Part of me is thrilled to be to be a part of it, to be a little DNA nucleus somewhere in there, adding to the fun! But also, these companies have recently help elect a fascist-dictator wannabe into our White House. So I'm deeply concerned with their relationship and with the amount of money that is flowing in a tornado upward.
But what comes up must come down, just like the rain. And I believe that we will continue to go through beautiful cycles of power and the power returning always to the land and to the people.
So I have decided to create a more, I'll say a way to share my voice and music and films and presence in a way that aligns with my values.
This newsletter is a true expression from me to you. Much more direct and, I feel so excited by the music that is being made by Abracadabra Trip. Ooh! The band is so mmm! Mmm! So beautiful. And and the track that I began this with, which is a completely improvised jam at Taps in Fort Worden State Park on their beautiful stage outside of the bar, under these gorgeous trees with the sunshine and the blue sky.
We performed an improvisation that was actually, the lyrics, the title, the song was created by a group of ladies, some friends of mine and some nurses and locals in town who wanted to use the name of the restaurant “Taps.”
And I said, well, what if “Taps” is a verb? Could we, tap into something?
And my friend Melanee goes, “Tap into my love.”
Ooo! Yes! That is so hot. So that's the name of the song. And then here is the song that we created spontaneously, on a blues jam. But the lyrics, all of it
are completely channeled, made up, freestyled and, the band is just riffing and playing.

Last year, Abracadabra debuted at the Halloween Ball, playing an epic show with Whump and Sam Maynard. This year we are planning an even bigger show with DJ Lunch Lady and DJ Donnie Darko playing after us.
